That doesn’t mean other people don’t know what you’re going through. Maybe not exactly what you’re going through but people have been in similar situations! Just not with bending elements..maybe something like learning another language, I don’t know.

Weren’t all the other Avatars like, in their 30’s or something when that conflict came around? You’ve got quite a few years before something like that happens! There had to be at least one reincarnation that had a peaceful life, right? No fighting or anything.

Well yeah, but they only need to deal with that stuff once or twice. I need to deal with it three times, John. Or maybe even four if you count waterbending. I mean I never really had too much trouble with water, but still.

Uh. Dave’s helping me with firebending, but things sort of haven’t been going all that well. Jade was helping me with earthbending for a while, but I sort of haven’t heard from her recently? Same with Nepeta and airbending. I think they finally just said fuck it and gave up with me to be completely honest. I don’t really blame them, either. Firebending’s the only one I’ve been able to manage, anyway. I mean barely, but it’s better than how I’ve been doing with the other two elements.

Then you remember everything else that happened and you’re caught up short as you blink your eyes open suddenly and fumble for your shades, bolting out of bed and scrambling to get dressed.

Master plan. It was totally happening. No-douche-Dave today. You were going to woo the shit out of him.

After changing, you sneak into the kitchen to get another bag together — remembering to grab some meat along with the fruit and even going so far as to take a couple water containers. Even though Karkat’s got one, you don’t. Waterbenders. Pfff.

The sound of someone moving around in the other room wakes you up, and Jesus fuck, why are you even such a light sleeper. God, you hate everything. Only not really. Wait, yes you do. Right now, at least.

You take your pillow and place it over your face, trying to ignore the noise. There’s no way you’re getting up right now. Or ever, even. Not after the shit that went down the day before. You’re just going to stay here in this room for the rest of your life. Fuck being the avatar.

Ok, that’s probably not a good plan, seeing as you’ll probably have to pull some of that ‘Looks like it’s time to save the world’ stuff at one point or another, but you can at least stay in here for the rest of the day, right?

Yeah, no, there’s no way Dave would let you get away with that. You groan, dragging yourself out of bed and changing into a fresh set of clothes. You just sort of stand by the door a while after that, your heart beating a little faster than it should be right now. Jfc.
